tier 2-targeted group interventions
Providing increasingly intensive instruction in small groups.
|
Tier II is for students who are falling behind same-age peers and need additional targeted interventions to meet grade-level expectations. In Tier II, the goal is to accelerate learning for students who need more intensive support. The interventions typically take place in a regular setting and may include instruction to small groups of students, targeted interventions, and frequent progress monitoring. During this stage, parents are informed and included in the planning and monitoring of their child's progress. Systematic assessment is conducted to determine the fidelity with which instruction and interventions are implemented. In the early grades (kindergarten through 3rd grade), interventions are usually in the areas of reading and math. (Pierangelo & Giuliani, 2012, p.88-89).
